| Huber Post Office was established on March 23rd., 1901, in the store of John H. Koopman. This store was located in Section # 9 of Denver Township. The office was named after Huber Hilton, the son of George Hilton, who was Postmaster of the Fremont Post Office at this time. He help the settlement in getting a post office established there. John H. Koopman was the first Postmaster and Richard c. Slocum was the Postmaster when the office closed on Feb. 28th., 1907. The mail then went to the Hesperia Post Office. Besides the store there were several homes, a church, and a cemetery located here. The school was located about one-half mile north of the settlement. Today, the store and the church are both gone, the cemetery has grown up to weeds and the school has been remodeled into a house. |
